I DO photograph birds!

But only herons! It seems that herons are like buses - you wait for ages for one to come along, and then a few turn up all together! This one was stalking in the estuary at Arnside, Cumbria.

A great pair of images of herons. I'm sure I don't need to say that the second one isnt really a bird photograph :-)

You're right Anton. The subject's too small for a "real" bird photograph, and the concept's a bit too "arty". In fact, a real fisherman would have done the compositional job just as well as the heron, though probably not as elegantly :-)

This is one classy shot, like no bird photograph I've ever seen! What a simple and effective idea. Well done.

Thanks dstreet. I have to say the heron was very accommodating, and let me get to the right position to use the large cloud as compositional balance!
